Sorry, can't help but you're not alone. The very same thing has appeared on my wife's laptop this morning when she fired it up. I'm running an identical setup on mine but haven't got the problem yet!!!

Nice to know I'm not the only one. I've seen a number of posts on various forums describing various variations but nothing about what I've exactly described. Compared to this, the fake is very clearly a fake. I have looked for an email address at Dell that I can report the phishing website to but I cannot find any way to do this. I am supprised as most big companies like banks, ebay, paypal, etc. If your suspicions are correct then it's a classic Saturday morning thing and Monday may bring more answers when the "people who know" get back behind their desks.

Guess we will have to wait until Tuesday for answers Monday is a holiday!! Same issue in N. Been running scans all day, doesn't seem to be a virus. Don't know whether to disable the interactive service or just leave the pop up on the screen while working.

It appears to be happening only to Dell users. Or did you do the smart thing and not try it? I took your advice and uninstalled Dell Datasafe from my computer and the rebooted. So far so good. I don't know if it had anything at all to do with Dell Datasafe, but since I use Mozy backup now anyway I didn't need it there anyway.

Has anyone tried just shutting down the computer and restarting it to see if it goes away "on it's own"?

No, I didn't click on the message, as I wasn't sure what would happen. I had never seen that message before. So I did a search and came upon this site and saw your message. It looked like the same problem, with the message title and program path, so I just got rid of datasafe, as I never used it. Have you tried rebooting your computer to see if the box still pops up? It might just be a fluke that my problem stopped with the uninstall, Maybe it was the reboot?

Didn't another poster say he rebooted and the pop up is gone maybe the poster from Mexico? Browse Community. Windows General. Turn on suggestions. Auto-suggest helps you quickly narrow down your search results by suggesting possible matches as you type.

This page discusses the best ways to interact with the user from a service. Services cannot directly interact with a user as of Windows Vista. Therefore, the techniques mentioned in the section titled Using an Interactive Service should not be used in new code.

You can use the following techniques to interact with the user from a service on all supported versions of Windows:. Create a separate hidden GUI application and use the CreateProcessAsUser function to run the application within the context of the interactive user.

Design the GUI application to communicate with the service through some method of interprocess communication IPC , for example, named pipes. The application communicates the results of the user interaction back to the service so that the service can take the appropriate action.

Note that IPC can expose your service interfaces over the network unless you use an appropriate access control list ACL. If the application uses named pipes for IPC, the server can distinguish between multiple user processes by giving each pipe a unique name based on the session ID.

By default, services use a noninteractive window station and cannot interact with the user. However, an interactive service can display a user interface and receive user input.
