New vision program




















Students in this program obtain up to observation hours in over 30 different clinical rotations. Clinical rotations take place at their respective hospitals and several off-site clinics throughout the region. Students learn about different health related careers and career opportunities through clinical rotations, guest speakers, medical grand rounds and field trips.

As a result, students form a clearer vision of their college and career goals by acquiring first-hand knowledge of the day-to-day demands and rewards of various health care professions. The course provides an integrated curriculum that covers the subject areas of bioethics, anatomy and physiology, public health policy, economics of healthcare and explores the role of government in health care.

Students completing New Visions: Health Careers Exploration continue on to college to pursue careers in fields such as:. A 1-year, honors-level program, New Visions turns area businesses, health care facilities and government buildings into classrooms for highly motivated, academically successful high school seniors.

For 3. New Visions students earn four academic credits including one credit each for English and social studies and two electives credits. They also may earn college credit, and the program is a proven asset on transcripts and college applications. Let your references know about the program you are applying to and explain what you hope to gain by participating in the program. Contacting the local parish government and communicating a desire to see the New Vision program in the community would also ensure the collaborative nature of the plan is in place.

LDEQ welcomes public insight into the local water bodies in the program, including any ongoing issues that may lead to water quality impairment, changes in land use or changes in hydrology.

The agency also looks to the public to notify LDEQ and the parish of facilities in violation of their permits, other noticeable problems, flow restrictions in a waterbody and point or nonpoint loading sources impacting a waterbody. Finally, citizens should participate in engagement activities hosted by the parish and LDEQ to ensure everyone is doing their part.
