The indicator to the right of the Server Storage button will normally display green, but turn to yellow or red depending on the severity of the problem WHS detects. Problems could include failed backups, out of date or missing anti-virus software, etc. The tray icon on the corresponding system will also indicate the problem. Also any way I can automate this as like yep doing the work of the server myself. This fix will not work on my Windows Vista Ultimate 64 system. It says the installer has an error. I cannot find a place to get a 64bit connector version.

Is there one out? Any other options? I can connect via explorer, though. Any advice would be much appreciated. Wow worked like a charm. I just copied the link as in the post into the run command box and ran the setup. Thanks for the great help. The advice should be reviewed and include solutions for Windows 7 bit.

What does the WHS team have to say about this? So what good is that piece of advice? I do want to backup my computer. And what is Microsoft doing about this problem? I think I will try free nas. I have the same issue as everyone else. I can run the install sequence at the dos prompt as an administrator and all goes well until it tries to configure backup. Then it just stalls and never finishes the setup.

I can see the server and logon to it from the WS but the server does not recognize the workstation. This is sad since once I opened the software no one will take it back and the home server was built strictly to back up my business images daily.

What a waste of money the whole thing was. I am sure that they know that and they themselves are steering in that direction but as a means of being greedy they want to force the public to upgrade in order to use the new technology.

Uninstall any existing connector on your XP 64 bit computer. Backing up tonite. Might also work for Vista Also might have helped to have all Windows updates. Plain old do-it-yourself computers. My WHS was up to date with all Packs. It was already backing up a Seven 64 bit ultimate just fine. I am now a happy camper after trying to get this no show to work for two days. Name required. When you turn it back on, wait until the health light begins to alternate between blue and red.

This only occurs for a few seconds while the server is booting. While it is alternating between those two colours, use your paper clip to press the reset button located next to the USB port on the front of the server. On an EX, the light should start to alternate between purple and red instead of blue and red once it's in recovery mode.

So if you're viewing it from a weird angle, it may still look blue instead of purple. After you have done this, place the recovery disc into a PC on the same network as the server.

This should start the recovery wizard. Progress through the wizard and it will begin searching for the server. As long as it is able to find the server in recovery mode, it will prompt you to perform either a server recovery or a factory reset.
