Canonet rangefinder patch

Never had any trouble from anyone when using the camera but if anyone messed with me I would not hesitate to hit them in the face with it! Not worked out what I would shout on the moment of impact?

What color films are used for the two mountain photos and the coastline? I really love those colors. Thus I liked the idea of finding a 1. Even KEH has four listed that way! For me, a Canon P and a 7Sz are still the best, especially since they accept interchangeable lenses, etc.

This was the short lived model, only a year before the QL models were introduced. I will give the seller the benefit of the doubt concerning its condition. Externally, it is in good shape, lens focuses, shutter fires but the film advance is messed up beginning with a broken interior spool.

Now I know why it only lasted a year! I am fortunate that I picked up a QL19 that works already. It makes everything look a bit distorted like a wide-angle lens — and the framelines bulge out in a disorienting way. Not sure the reason for this, but am guessing it has to do with the viewfinder magnification. Anyone else notice this? A few years ago a friend gave me a Canonet with original case that had been kicking around.

I love the trigger film advance, not just for the speed and convenience, but for the smooth design on the top plate. Chris Cushing March 19, Share this post! Chris Cushing Chris Cushing is a freelance writer, pedant and photographer who still plays with cars. All stories by:Chris Cushing.

Glad to see you came across it and it made for a more interesting and helpful article overall to see inside the top plate.

Thank you. A good article. The earlier Canon rangefinders have a screw in the front that hides the adjustment screw under it. Looking at pictures of the various Canonet models, it looks like all the rangefinder models, other than the original Canonet 19 have what looks like a little porthole in the rear of the top plate for adjustment….

Hey thanks! I have a Canon 2. No more struggling to focus! Thanks, Bob, for another great instructional article. So any articles like this can be a great help. Thank you for this! I literally just acquired an Auto S3 with a vertically misaligned rangefinder, so this was perfect timing to read this helpful article!
